Trekking Through Forests to Find an Old Dublin Pub
July 6, 2011 by authentic ireland travel
Start in Marlay Park, well-loved by local Dubliners. There are huge open spaces, rich forests, art scattered here and there, and plenty of benches for lounging and looking up at the sky. There is a peace here that is almost supernatural. And now you are going to leave.
Walk out of the Park on Kilmashogue Lane, and check out Dublin at a distance. This is the best possible view of the city and the most astonishing. Over there? Dublin Bay. And look – the Howth Peninsula runs from heaven and back again.
Start walking up the hill. Prepare to be amazed. The Wicklow Mountains lay before you like ancient, jagged secrets. Walking down the hill, you’ll end up in Glencullen, birthplace of historic and wondrous Johnny Fox’s Pub. Enjoy the magic!
